Sometimes it's nice to know a little about your therapist before you arrive at the clinic... as well as providing some interesting background information, this page may help you to decide which physiotherapist to request for your treatment. All of our team members are very experienced, fully qualified and highly skilled in their chosen fields - so if you're not sure who you'd like to see, you don't have to choose... just give us a call and we'll book you in with the next available therapist.
Owen Robinson, Bsc (Hons) Physiotherapy HPC MCSP
Owen was born in Pretoria South Africa in 1971. He finished his education in 1989. He then obtained a scholarship to study at The City University in London. He completed his 4 years Bsc (Hons) degree
in physiotherapy in 1994. Following graduation he worked as a physiotherapist at the University College London hospital for 2 years. During this time he completed a diploma in manipulative therapy to
join the Manipulative Association of Chartered physiotherapists. In 1996 Owen moved to New Zealand for 2 years in which time he worked in private practice and also as a team physiotherapist with one
of the national provincial Rugby Union teams. He returned to the Nottingham in 1998 where he joined a private practice. In 1999 he started PhysioDirect Sherwood Limited. In the last 10 years he also
worked for UK Athletics as a team physiotherapist. For 4 years he was responsible for the middle distance athlete's care and travelled with them around the world. For the last 8 seasons Owen has also
been involved with The Nottingham Panthers Ice Hockey team as their team physiotherapist.

Philip Rippon, Bsc (Hons) Physiotherapy, HPC, MCSP
Philip completed a diploma in sports science and sports injuries at Nottingham Trent University in 2001, before moving to Northumbria University, Newcastle and graduating as a physiotherapist in
2004. Upon completion of his degree he worked on a part time basis for a North East semi-professional football team, then joining the NHS where he completed 9 months working in the musculo-skeletal
outpatient department before joining PhysioDirect in May 2006. Philip specialises in the treatment of musculoskeletal problems involving spinal and peripheral joint pain and sports injuries, using
manual therapy techniques together with acupuncture.

Laura West, Bsc (Hons) Physiotherapy, HPC, MCSP
Laura graduated from the University of Hertfordshire with BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy in June 2008. Laura spent the summer of 2008 travelling with the England U18 female basketball team throughout
Europe as lead physiotherapist during their preparation for the European Championships in Macedonia, which she also attended. Laura joined the PhysioDirect team in September 2008 and has successfully
managed to combine this along with her role within the England team. As a former international athlete herself, Laura has vast experience and empathy with sports related injuries. However along with
her manual therapy skills, Laura is also qualified in the use of acupuncture in the treatment of multiple conditions including chronic spinal and peripheral complaints.

Francis Maree, Bsc (Hons) Physiotherapy, HPC, MCSP
Francis graduated from the University of the Free State in South Africa in 2006. After graduation, she worked in Smithfield, SA, for a year. During this year, she was the Physiotherapist for the
provincial Free State Amateur Rugby Team and travelled with this team across the Country. After this year she started working at a Private Practice in Bloemfontein, SA. This was for a former
Physiotherapist of the Free State Rugby Team, also known as the Cheetahs. At this practice she treated a variety of acute and chronic sports, orthopaedic, and spinal conditions. In 2009 she moved to
London and worked there for 4 months, before moving to and starting to work in Nottingham. Currently, Francis works part-time for PhysioDirect and part-time for the NHS.

Kris Spoors, Bsc (Hons) Physiotherapy, HPC, MCSP
In 2002 Kris suffered a fracture dislocation to his right ankle, resulting in a week long stay on an orthopaedic ward in Stoke on Trent, followed by extensive rehabilitation. This experience inspired
him to study a degree in physiotherapy. He qualified as a physiotherapist in 2007 with a specific interest in manual musculoskeletal therapy. Previous to becoming a physiotherapist Kris worked as a
personal trainer focussing on obesity control, exercise performance and injury rehabilitation. Kris has also had experience developing and delivering national education programs in anatomy,
physiology, rehabilitation and special populations care. His clinical training as a physiotherapist, coupled with his previous experience, has resulted in varied hands-on treatment approaches
including biomechanical and exercise centred injury rehabilitation.

Rob Leckie, MCSP
Rob grew up in New Zealand and his many qualifications include a Degree in PE and a Diploma of Teaching. After worldwide travel then studying at Nottingham Uni, he graduated in 1995 with a 1st class
honours degree in Physiotherapy. Rob's work experience includes 2 years with NHS musculoskeletal outpatients and orthopaedic inpatients, over a decade in private practice and working at the Northern
General Sports Injury Clinic and The Sheffield Centre of Sports Medicine, where he has been an Honorary Lecturer. As a sportsman himself (formerly a New Zealand Universities Hockey player and playing
hockey at National League Level in England) Rob understands the importance of rehabilitation from injury from both an athlete and a physio's perspective. Completing his MSc in Sports Injury and
Therapy in 2001 and gaining extensive experience since in treating elite international athletes he's worked with the GB Athletics Team and Team England at the 2006 Commonwealth Games.

Rebecca Parken, Bsc Hons Physiotherapy, Msc, HPC, MCSP, AACP
Qualifying as a physiotherapist from Brunel University in 2003, Rebecca started work in the NHS and gained wide experience in all areas of physiotherapy including treating musculoskeletal outpatients
and working in orthopaedics. In 2007 she studied full time for a year at Nottingham University and gained an Msc in Sports and Exercise Medicine. Rebecca then continued work in the field of
musculoskeletal physiotherapy for the NHS and evening work in a private hospital in Surrey. She moved back to Nottingham and started work for PhysioDirect in August 2010. Becky has vast experience in
the treatment of neck / low back pain and all joint problems as well as sports injuries. She has a keen interest in manual treatment, acupuncture and exercise prescription.

Jade Burghart, MCSP
Jade qualified as a physiotherapist from The University of Nottingham in 2009. After qualifying, she began working with the NLD U16 rugby team and had a brief spell working for the NHS in Leicester.
For the past year, Jade has worked privately, mainly dealing with neck and lower back pain. She also began working closely with the Nottingham Moderns RFU in August 2010, and will continue in this
role alongside working for Physio Direct. Jade has a particular interest in acupuncture, manual therapy and exercise prescription.
